On May 3rd we celebrate the 4th edition of our Fashion Symposium . The panel "Design processes: collaborate to transform", which will begin at 15:00h, will consist of:
- Presentation of the book "Método Sewing" with its author, Paola Cirelli (15:00h).
- Round table: Collaboration as a lever for entrepreneurship (15:30h).
The dizzying changes in the market, audiences and urgent decisions on sustainability pose a new role for fashion designers and brand creators. In this talk, Paola Cirelli will explain her method Sewing, which connects branding, design and marketing in a holistic, integrative and adaptive way, and in which co-creation and collaboration are fundamental to achieve the success of sustainable brands.
With Paola Cirelli (designer specializing in Fashion Design Thinking and professor at the School), Marc Albornà (coordinator of the fashion entrepreneurship program Barcelona Fashion Forward of Barcelona Activa and Disseny Hub Barcelona) and Olga Beltrán (designer and Fashion Forward mentor). Moderated by Dani Cantó (cultural agitator and professor of Fashion Journalism at LCI).
About the speakers
Paola Cirelli
Fashion designer specialized in branding and sustainability. 16 years ago she founded her studio Fashion Design Thinking with which they create sustainable fashion brands, advise companies and develop mentoring for designers and entrepreneurs. She has been a university professor for 15 years and today teaches at LCI, Elisava, ESDI and EATM. In 2019 she opened a communication space, the Maldita Moda Club podcast, where sustainability issues are addressed and which has more than 20,000 listeners in more than 40 countries. And she also runs the international Maldita Moda Club in which, through monthly online meetings, current sustainability and fashion industry topics are shared. She is currently editing her second book, Cómo crear marcas de moda sostenible, through her method Sewing.
Marc Albornà
After holding different positions in the areas of sale point management and visual merchandising at H&M and Desigual, he opened his own sales platform for emerging fashion brands, Facoco Store, which helped him to later become part of Plus Value Marketing Service's team of fashion consultants and collaborate with Barcelona Activa and Disseny Hub Barcelona (entities belonging to the Barcelona City Council) to carry out the coordination of the fashion entrepreneurship program Barcelona Fashion Forward. Apart from the BFF, he is also currently the Fashion referent of the Design Promotion area of Barcelona Activa and coordinates different exhibition spaces of Disseny Hub Barcelona.
Olga Beltrán Moreno
Product consultant in different entrepreneurship projects such as the Barcelona Fashion Forward program and Reimagine Textile. She is also professor at LCI and operations consulting at Plus Value. With a career of more than thirty years as product manager and head of the Design Department in brands such as Burberry, Massimo Dutti, Uterqüe and Springfield, helping young designers in their brand creation in favor of sustainability and innovation is part of her current motivation as a professional in the fashion industry.
Dani Cantó
Multidisciplinary creative. With a degree in Audiovisual Communication (UV/UvA/UAB) and a master's degree in Digital Marketing (EAE), he has developed his career linked to cultural creation and journalistic critic in all its formats. He was editor-in-chief of the fashion website neomoda.com and has written for Metal, VEIN and Dream. He is a music photographer and has been a correspondent for Pitchfork, Mondosonoro, Rockdelux and Primavera Sound since 2007. At the same time, he has been creative director specialized in millennial-oriented projects for brands such as Converse, Mahou, Jägermeister or Bershka.
