Barcelona Architecture Weeks 2025

From May 12 to June 28, the Barcelona City Council and the Mies van der Rohe Foundation are organizing Architecture Weeks 2025, featuring an extensive program designed to strengthen the relationship between architecture and the public. Exhibitions, competitions, awards, talks, guided tours, celebrations, and much more will take place across all districts of the city, and for all audiences. This edition takes on special significance as Barcelona will be the World Capital of Architecture in 2026, a title awarded by UNESCO-UIA.
LCI Barcelona is joining Architecture Weeks with the following activities, held at our spectacular campus in Poblenou within the project Classroom in the street:
“Wellbeing, Neuroarchitecture, and Bioconstruction”
🗓️ Wednesday, May 14
🕐 5:00 to 6:30 pm
Architect and professor Ana García López will give a talk on designing healthy environments based on the principles of neuroarchitecture and bioconstruction, aiming to create spaces that promote people’s well-being and health.
“Expression and Representation”
🗓️ Monday, May 19
🕐 10:15 am to 12:15 pm
An outdoor class led by Dr. Eugenia López Reus, who will conduct a shelter design workshop with first-year Interior Design students. Attendees will be able to observe and interact with both the students and the professor.
“Open-air Schools”
🗓️ Monday, May 19
🕐 12:30 to 2:30 pm
A talk by alumni and professor María Lledó on the concept of open-air schools, with a focus on Ana Mombiedro’s Learning Communities project. The session will highlight the Escola del Mar in Barceloneta as a pioneer in the use of outdoor space and innovative pedagogical approaches.
Open Campus Day
🗓️ Tuesday, May 27
🕐 5:00 to 6:30 pm
Guided by architects Fernando Ansorena and Ivan Serrano, founders of Circular Studio and designers of the building, visitors will explore different areas of the campus and reflect on current trends in architecture and learning environments.
“Proxemics for Design”
🗓️ Wednesday, June 4
🕐 4:00 to 6:00 pm
Professor Montse Morilla will lead a workshop on proxemics, the study of how people use space. This collective experience will invite participants to explore the relational and symbolic elements present in spaces, people, and objects.
Course: Projects II
🗓️ Monday, June 16
🕐 10:15 am to 12:15 pm
An outdoor class led by professor Ana García López. In this session of the Projects II course in the Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, students will present their proposals for interventions in the square next to the campus, developed over the academic year.
“Socio-emotional Shelters”
🗓️ Monday, June 16
🕐 12:30 to 2:30 pm
A talk by the DU-DA collective, presenting research on how cities, architecture, and design can help expand our understanding of how to approach processes of loss and mourning.
Exhibition and Presentations of Final Degree Projects
🗓️ Wednesday, June 25 to Friday, June 27
🕐 10:00 am to 8:00 pm
Visitors will be able to explore the exhibition featuring graduation projects by students of the Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design. While each proposal explores a unique theme, all share a common vision: using design as a tool for transformation. There will also be outdoor presentations, where attendees can engage with students and their tutors.
