Synthesis is born as a search for both personal understanding and functionality. Starting from a thesis and an antithesis implicit in the former, Synthesis explores the idea of progress through contradiction, based on the workings of Hegelian dialectics. The thesis, in my case, is the straight line, symbolizing structure, control, and rigidity; the antithesis, therefore, is the curve, representing flexibility, openness, and deviation. Far from excluding one another, both need and negate each other, generating an abrupt change that acts as the driving force of the dialectic. From this clash does not emerge a stable or definitive synthesis, but rather a higher, always provisional form in which structure sustains the organic and the organic humanizes structure.
