The Art Directors Club of Europe has announced the winners of the ADCE Student Awards 2025, and at LCI Barcelona we are thrilled to celebrate the achievement of our alumni Inés Asens de Ramón and Maria Muñoz Sanchez, graduates in Graphic Design, who have been awarded Gold in the Brand / Communication Design category for their rebranding proposal for Renfe.

Supervised by faculty members Clara Aguilar and Laia Lombao, the project set out to rethink one of Spain’s most iconic identities. For Inés and Maria, redesigning a brand so present in daily life was a meaningful challenge: giving it a contemporary visual language while still honouring its history. After carrying out an in-depth brand audit, they identified key opportunities to strengthen Renfe’s connection with its users, revealing gaps between the intended image and public perception, as well as issues related to punctuality and sustainability.

Developed during their studies at LCI, their proposal turns these insights into creative, strategic solutions through a bold visual overhaul and a more approachable and effective communication strategy. The result is a more intuitive and accessible identity that aligns with the expectations of today’s travellers, redefining Renfe’s relationship with its audience and offering a renewed vision for the future of rail transport.
