LCI Barcelona Animation faculty and alumni take part in films nominated for the 2026 Goya Awards

"Decorado", "El tesoro de Barracuda", and "Olivia y el terremoto invisible" are competing to win the Goya for Best Animated Feature Film at the ceremony that Barcelona will host at the end of February.

On Saturday, February 28, the 40th edition of the Goya Awards, the major awards of Spanish cinema, is being held in Barcelona, and we are very happy because three projects with the participation of members of our community, specifically from the Animation area, have been nominated in the category of Best Animated Feature Film.

First, we find Decorado, the latest film by the multi-award-winning director Alberto Vázquez, in which our professor Sergi Miranda has worked as an animator. This month of February, within the framework of Animac - International Animation Film Festival of Catalonia, a group of students will attend a special screening of the film that will include a conversation + Q&A with the director.

El tesoro de Barracuda has also been nominated, a film directed by Adrià García, in which our alumni Izhan Alcántara has participated as a rough animator, recommended by the lecturer Juan Huarte. Izhan himself gave us more details about his experience in an interview a few weeks ago.

Lastly, the film Olivia y el terremoto invisible, directed by Irene Iborra, has counted on the participation of professor Susana Martín as production director. A group of students and lecturers had the opportunity to enjoy the film at the latest edition of the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, where it was also awarded.
