LCI Barcelona celebrates its class of 2026

Here comes the end of the academic year, and with it, the class of 2026's graduation ceremonies. On June 22, we celebrated our advanced vocational training programs at the Torre Glòries auditorium, while on July 17, our master's, postgraduate, pattern making, and bachelor's degree ceremonies took place at the Oriol Martorell hall of L'Auditori de Barcelona. Three events that paid tribute to, and bid farewell to, a new generation of professionals trained at LCI Barcelona.

In her welcome speeches, our general director Sílvia Viudas shared a message of confidence with the graduates about the challenges ahead: she encouraged them to face an industry in constant transformation, shaped by the rise of artificial intelligence, with resilience, and urged them to never stop learning or questioning. Above all, she wished for them to hold on to the same passion and curiosity that brought them to LCI, now channeled into their new professional chapter.

Advanced vocational training programs: the first graduation

On June 22, at the Torre Glòries auditorium, we celebrated the graduation of students from our three advanced vocational training programs: Projects and Direction of Decoration Works; Pattern Making and Fashion; and 3D Animation, Games, and Interactive Environments. Following Sílvia Viudas's welcome, area directors Estel Vilaseca and David Carretero, together with faculty members Maria Jesús Franco, David Argemí, and Ramon Antonijoan, addressed the graduates. Jan Pol Arderiu and Luis Alexander Núñez then took the stage on behalf of their classmates, giving voice to the nerves, the lessons learned, and the pride shared by their whole class.

Before the diploma ceremony, we also recognized the top academic records of the class, who earned a scholarship to pursue bachelor's studies at LCI Barcelona. The winners were Sara Buendia (Projects and Direction of Decoration Works), Tania Jiménez (3D Animation, Games, and Interactive Environments), and Irati Caballero (Pattern Making and Fashion).

Master's, postgraduate, and pattern making programs: a graduation with an international outlook

On the morning of July 17, at L'Auditori de Barcelona, we celebrated the ceremony for our master's, postgraduate, and pattern making programs. This year, we welcomed an exceptional guest of honor: Terry Berkowitz, a visual artist, graphic designer, and professor emerita of art at the City University of New York, whose work (exhibited at institutions such as MoMA PS1 and the Whitney Museum in New York) explores themes such as forced displacement and the fall of empires.

Before the diploma ceremony, three graduates spoke on behalf of their classmates. Julia Lomachinsky and Elizabeth Esposito, from the Master's in Fashion Marketing, Communication, and Event Planning, recalled how their friendship, born at LaSalle College Montreal, led them years later, now at LCI Barcelona, to develop their master's thesis together with the prestigious brand Tous. Andrea González, from the Master's in New Documentary Photography, delivered a deeply personal speech about photography as a language and a way of looking at the world. Finally, Eduardo Ortega, from the Master's in UX/UI and Design Systems, brought the lightest moment of the evening with a speech full of humor.

Bachelor's degrees: a new generation steps up

On the afternoon of July 17, also at L'Auditori, we celebrated the graduation of our bachelor's degrees in Fashion Design, Graphic Design, and Interior Design. The ceremony included a heartfelt tribute to María Costa, a pattern making professor and mentor for decades, who is retiring after a career devoted to teaching at our School. We also presented the 2026 Teaching Excellence Award, granted by LCI Education's Global Academic Committee, to Oliver Montiel, a professor in the Graphic Design area.

Faculty members Nicolás Markuerkiaga and Dani Cantó, together with Oliver Montiel himself, addressed the audience on behalf of the teaching staff. Representing the graduates, Aina Zamrik (Interior Design), Lorena Tapia (Graphic Design), and Lucía Queija and Nahia Arnau (Fashion Design) took the stage. The latter two also wanted to dedicate a heartfelt tribute to Aida Giménez, a School professor who passed away last year, and "who remains very much present in our classrooms". After the diploma presentation, the awards for the top academic records, which include a scholarship covering 100% of tuition to pursue a master's degree at LCI Barcelona, went to Alba Semper (Fashion Design), Lorena Tapia (Graphic Design), and Helena Conejo (Interior Design).

A growing alumni community

With these three ceremonies, our class of 2026 graduates now join LCI Education's global alumni community, made up of more than 20,000 people across five continents.

As the motto of our graduation ceremonies reminds us, "the journey continues". Congratulations to all of our graduates!
