LCI Barcelona co-organizes and hosts the international symposium “Art in Motion: Animation, Education, and Contemporary Practices”

The event, which will take place this Thursday, February 19, will focus on moving image as a tool for creation, education, and research in the field of contemporary art.

Our School is organizing, together with the Department of Arts and Conservation-Restoration of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Barcelona, the international symposium “Art in Motion: Animation, Education, and Contemporary Practices”, which will take place on Thursday, February 19, from 8:50 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at our campus, specifically in the Montreal Room (4th floor).

The symposium offers a space for reflection on the graphic and audiovisual moving image within the field of cultural and educational production, focusing on artistic, educational, and research projects that explore contemporary practices such as animation, the audiovisual documentation of performance, and expanded painting. Throughout the day, professionals and researchers working in these fields will deliver talks and activities centered on innovative methodologies in art education and contemporary creative practice.

The symposium is coordinated by Piotr Perski and David Carretero, head of our Gaming, Animation, and VFX area, who will also participate as a speaker. Alba Giménez Gil, Research Coordinator at LCI, will also take part in the program.

This symposium reflects LCI Barcelona’s commitment to research, pedagogical innovation, and dialogue between education and contemporary artistic practice, offering an open space for exchange and discussion for the academic and creative community.
