Disseny Hub Barcelona is hosting the 13th edition of Art Photo Bcn from Friday, May 8 to Sunday, May 10. Our School is taking part in the festival through three students from the Master’s in New Documentary Photography, whose projects can be discovered both at the physical event venue and in the virtual viewing room.
Art Photo Bcn is Spain’s leading platform for photography and photo publishing. Each edition brings together a photography fair, a photobook market, portfolio reviews, and a program of free activities, with the aim of boosting the visibility of artists, galleries, and publishers. Since 2022, its venue has been the Disseny Hub Barcelona, an emblematic space for the city’s cultural industries.
The three students representing LCI Barcelona this year work from diverse and committed documentary practices: Brandon Lopez develops narrative photography focused on identities and bodies that exist outside normative margins; Mackenzie Duncan explores the relationship between people and the places they inhabit, through a restrained gaze attentive to natural light, landscape, and bodily gestures; and Salvador Pastor works on long-term projects linked to specific communities, exploring how territory, memory, and space intervene in the construction of collective identity.
