Sra. Gallery will host this Thursday and Friday, March 12 and 13, a collective exhibition of art toys developed by our second-year students from the Animation and Video Game Design bachelor’s degrees. This collaboration represents a real opportunity for connection between the educational field and the professional ecosystem, allowing our students to present and sell their projects in a specialized exhibition context and to come into contact with Barcelona’s artistic and creative circuit. The exhibition will open on Thursday at 6:00 p.m.
What is an art toy?
An art toy is a form of artistic expression that combines illustration, sculpture, character design, and urban culture. Unlike the traditional toy, the art toy is conceived as an author’s artistic piece, generally produced in limited editions, which functions as a narrative and aesthetic support. This format has become a common language for artists linked to illustration, animation, comics, or video games, and is a particularly relevant tool for the development of characters and visual universes.

Sra. Gallery, a reference space in Barcelona
Sra. Gallery is an art gallery specialized in art toys and street art, unique of its kind in Spain and a reference in southern Europe in the production and dissemination of this type of work. Its objective is to promote contemporary art through the promotion of emerging artists and the creation of new business avenues for urban and innovative forms of expression. The gallery, located at carrer de Méndez Núñez, 7, combines exhibition, production, and sales, generating a dynamic meeting point between artists, collectors, and creative communities in constant evolution. You can find more information on its official website.

A week dedicated to drawing, storytelling, and visual creation
The exhibition is framed within a week especially linked to visual creation at LCI Barcelona. This Wednesday, March 11, at 6:00 p.m., the school will host a new session of the DI55ECCIONS series with the talk Drawing as Narrative: Mapping a Process. Visual artist and comic author Iván McGill, co-founder of the narrative studio Shaman Garage and co-creator of the collective publication Búnker24, will offer a graphic report in real time. Iván is also a member of the organizing team of the independent comics festival GRAF and designer of the poster for the new edition, which will be held this weekend at Fabra i Coats.

Next stop: Saló de l’Ensenyament
After this intense week of activities, we invite you to visit us at the Saló de l’Ensenyament, where you will be able to discover outstanding projects from the Gaming, Animation, and VFX area and learn about the programs we offer. This is a new opportunity to get closer to emerging #MadeInLCI talent and to the creative processes that are developed within our classrooms and that, as demonstrated by the exhibition at Sra. Gallery, already engaged in dialogue with the professional world.
