LCI Barcelona is part of PICOBELLO, the European project inspired by the New European Bauhaus

Our School is one of the local stakeholders of the Barcelona Creativity & Design Foundation within PICOBELLO (PIloting COllaborative ways to BEtter Living LOcally), an initiative co-financed by the European Union through the INTERREG EUROPE program. Its goal is to integrate the principles of the New European Bauhaus (NEB) into the development of the seven associated European regions, promoting the co-creation of local solutions that combine aesthetics, inclusion and sustainability.
At the end of February, the second meeting of PICOBELLO partners and stakeholders took place in Barcelona, focusing on sustainability and innovation within the creative economy. The event included a range of activities (workshops, round tables, institution visits, etc.) centred on resource efficiency, waste reduction, and the use of clean energy. Sustainable initiatives led by PICOBELLO members were also shared. Representing LCI Barcelona, faculty members Micaela Clubourg and Antoni Mañach presented our upcycling project Toteo, developed by a team of professors and students during the latest edition of Barcelona Design Week. Toteo was made possible thanks to the Linkkit assembly system, created by our alumni Florencia Bordas.
Next destination: Greece
The meeting in Barcelona, which was also attended by our Academic Director Miljana Micovic, strengthened collaboration among all PICOBELLO partners and served to exchange strategies for implementing sustainability in design and regional development. The next steps of this initiative include the development of regional action plans, the celebration of new activities, and the preparation of the project's progress report.
The next PICOBELLO meeting will take place in Greece, where the exchange of best practices will continue to support the creative economy and sustainability across Europe.
