AI Graphic Design Diploma in Barcelona

Throughout the course, you'll build the foundations of graphic design (composition, hierarchy, color, typography, and image) and put them into practice with generative AI. You'll get an introduction to workflow logic and node-based systems, and explore multimodal possibilities like image-to-video generation. A hands-on experience designed to show you the potential (and the limits) of AI tools applied to design.

Start of the next intake: November 13, 2026. This specialization course consists of 40 hours of in-person training at our 22@ campus, split across two weekly sessions: Friday afternoons (4:00 pm to 8:00 pm) and Saturday mornings (10:00 am to 2:00 pm).

UNIT 1: GRAPHIC DESIGN FUNDAMENTALS AND INTRODUCTION TO AI

• Graphic design as visual communication: objective, audience, message, composition, hierarchy, typography, color, and image.
• What we mean by generative AI and how it can become part of a creative process.
• Basic concepts to get your bearings: model, prompt, reference, probability, and a first look at tokens, embeddings, and latent space.
• The possibilities and limits of generative tools applied to design.

UNIT 2: FROM IDEA TO VISUAL DIRECTION

• From a simple brief to a visual intent: references, tone, moodboard, and initial criteria.
• Introduction to prompting: what to describe, how to add context, and how to iterate.
• Using language models to help organize ideas, references, and instructions.
• Exploring with Midjourney: generating, comparing, varying, and selecting proposals.

UNIT 3: IMAGE GENERATION AND TRANSFORMATION

• Text-to-image, image-to-image, and the use of reference images.
• Generation, editing, transformation, and refinement with Magnific.
• Localized editing and variations: changing some elements while keeping others.
• Upscaling and creating small families of images that share a common visual direction.

UNIT 4: INTRODUCTION TO NODE-BASED SYSTEMS AND WORKFLOWS

• What a node is and what we mean by workflow: input, transformation, and output.
• Connections and variations within a simple visual flow.
• Guided construction of a basic workflow in Magnific Spaces.
• An introduction to managing iterations and credits throughout the process.

UNIT 5: EXTENDING AN IDEA TO NEW FORMATS

• Adapting a visual direction to different pieces, formats, and mockups.
• An introduction to image-to-video and other multimodal possibilities.
• Demonstrations of emerging tools and environments for reference.
• Basic criteria for deciding when a tool can add value to the process.

UNIT 6: APPLIED GRAPHIC DESIGN WITH AI PROJECT

• Developing a simple proposal from a brief and a visual direction.
• Defining references, palette, typography, image, and composition.
• Using AI in certain stages of exploration, generation, or transformation.
• Building a main piece and a visual adaptation or application.
• Selection, final adjustments, and a brief presentation of the process, including basic considerations around responsible use.
