We celebrate Barcelona as World Capital of Architecture 2026 with a program of #MadeInLCI activities

On the occasion of the designation of our city as World Capital of Architecture, we have organized a series of activities open to the public focused on design, creativity, and reflection on space.

The city of Barcelona, named World Capital of Architecture 2026 by UNESCO-UIA, will host the UIA World Congress of Architects this June. Over the course of ten months, the city is rolling out across all its districts more than 1,500 activities (exhibitions, workshops, conferences, urban tours, and many more) with the aim of bringing architecture, urban planning, and landscape design closer to the public.

At LCI Barcelona, we want to be part of this celebration. For this reason, our Interior Design area has organized a series of activities open to all that combine design, creativity, and reflection on the spaces we inhabit. Below, we review both those that have already taken place and those that will be held in the coming weeks:

Somatosensory clay workshop

🗓️ Thursday, March 26

🕐 11:00 am to 1:00 pm

📍 LCI Barcelona Campus

In this participatory workshop, led by alumni and professor María Lledó Cisneros Catalán, participants discovered the principles of biophilia, bioconstruction, and neuroarchitecture through the use of natural paints made from clays and non-toxic pigments. More information here.

The Grid Photo Project

🗓️ Friday, April 24

🕐 11:00 am to 1:00 pm

📍 Mies van der Rohe Pavilion

Inspired by the artistic intervention “The Grid” by CritTeam, this drawing and photography workshop led by Miguel Jaime and professor Eugenia López Reus, invited participants to explore the Pavilion space through the concepts that define its architecture, using their mobile phones as a tool. More details here.

Sensoriality and care design / Collective sensory map

🗓️ Wednesday, May 6

🕐 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm

📍 LCI Barcelona Campus

Lecture and workshop led by professors Gema Gilgado de Ocejo and Ana García López (director of our Master’s in Neuroarchitecture and Bioconstruction). Participants will explore how color, materiality, scents, and acoustics shape our emotional experience of spaces and will collaboratively build a collective sensory map that places wellbeing at the center of design. Socio-emotional refuge

🗓️ From Monday, June 1 to Friday, July 31

🕐 9:00 am to 7:00 pm
